Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering and is called an ‘evergreen branch’ because of the steady demand of mechanical engineers from the industry.
It caters to the needs of almost all the sectors of industry especially to the needs of: Automobiles, Railways, Aviation, Thermal Power Plants, Hydro Power Plants, Textile, Petroleum, Chemical, and a variety of other industries.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering is one of the best department in the region. Its qualified and
experienced faculty members work with dedication and motivation.
The department aims at providing basic knowledge in Mechanical Engineering along with in-depth
knowledge in the design of mechanical components and machines, production engineering, techniques of
management, computer programming and numerical analysis.
The Department has well established Machine shop & Workshop, Fluid Mechanics & Machinery Lab,
Thermal Engineering Lab, Manufacturing process Lab, Material science & Testing Lab, Metrology Lab
Along with the Academic development, various activities are organized to develop soft skills of the
students such as Paper Presentation, Industrial Visits and Expert Lectures etc.

Laboratories: Department has well equipped laboratories as detailed below:
Mechanical Engineering Laboratory:
The laboratory has machines, equipments and instruments related to experiments on Thermal engg., Automobile engg., and strength of material.
Workshop:
Workshop has six sections:-
Machine shop
Welding shop
Smith & Foundry shop
Carpentry shop
Carpentry shop
Fitting shop
Sheet metal shop
The material Science and testing Lab:
It consists of the various equipments/testing machine for materials. It also consists microscopes, polishing machine for the knowledge of grain size and crystal structure
CAD/CAM Lab:
This lab is equipped with CNC-lathe machine with cut viewer licensed software. In CAD lab various software of design/drawing i.e. Auto CAD/Pro-E are available to give exposure about design aspects.
Applied Thermodynamics Lab:
The applied thermodynamics Lab consists of various boiler models, engine test rigs, AC test rig to give exposure about practical aspects.
Measurement & Metrology Lab:
The Lab consists of various visual experimental setup i.e. profile projector, stroboscope etc. and other equipments of measurements
Fluid Mechanics Lab:
Lab has equipments for measuring the flow characteristics and other properties of fluids.
